Victory Song
Ensiferum, a viking / folk metal band from Helsinki, Finland. Victory Songs, the third album from this self described "heroic folk metal band". Released on April 20, 2007 by the Spinefarm label.
Rich in the culture of Finnish Mythology and true to their heritage, In my opinion, Victory Songs is a masterpiece. To say metal is beautiful, well some people would say, "I'm crazy", but it is beautiful in it's own rite. To mix Metal with traditional Folk music, to me is the best of both worlds. To genres of music that I hold near to my heart.
Each song tells a story, with lyrical themes that describe, heroic tales, belief in Finnsh Gods, and stories of a mythical times . Sung with piercing and harmanizing vocals and gallop drum beats. The first track, Ad Victoriam, an instumetal, sets the tone for the whole album. When I listen to Victory Songs, it tranforms time and space with all nine tracks, to the final and title track, Victory songs.
To sum it up, anyone in search of Folk Metal and a good album to get a taste of it. I recommend this album. Another album on my list of one of the best albums of 2007. Hope by reading my review of Victory Songs, you will give it a listen. Hails to Ensiferum for their talent and being true to their beliefs.
Ranking scale, 1 out of 10, I give it a 10!
